Cadbury Dream Ice Creams - back for Summer! (UK)

If you've sorely missed Cadbury Dream White Chocolate since it was withdrawn from UK shelves many years ago, fear not, it's going to be back for Summer, albeit in a colder form - yes, ice cream! Dream Ice Creams have been in shops sporadically for several years now (including a Strawberry variety that was exclusive to Farmfoods) but finally they're getting an official release just for the Summer, yay! It will be sold in major supermarkets in packs of three, and impulse sticks will cost £1.80 from convenience stores.

Maybe Cadbury are testing the waters to see how popular they are...who knows, maybe the proper Cadbury Dream bar may be resurrected if sales are good!

You can already find Cadbury Dream ice creams in Fultons Foods, a Northern based frozen food store if you're lucky enough to live near one (there's a store finder in the link above). I'm not sure if they sell imports or the official UK version, but here's some I spotted in there recently:

Cadbury Heroes Cupcakes & Rocky Road Mud Cake (Spotted In Shops)

Cadbury Heroes Party Cupcakes

A Spotted In Shops focused on cakes and biscuits today, since there are so many new treats in shops lately!

First up is the rather special Cadbury Heroes Party Cupcakes Selection. Now even though this is called Cadbury Heroes, the cupcakes only feature Cadbury Caramel, Cadbury Crunchie and Cadbury Flake. That's hardly "Heroes", Cadbury! Still these cupcakes with their caramel and chocolate buttercreams do sound pretty scrumptious. Spotted in Tesco.

Cadbury Rocky Road Mud Cake:
Cadbury Rocky Road Mud Cake

A new "gluten free" Mud Cake from Cadbury, made with Cadbury Chocolate that can be found in the Free From frozen section at Tesco. Although this is gluten free, it's made from wheat starch that has had the gluten removed...so if you're super sensitive to wheat I would advise caution with this. Otherwise, it sounds like a tasty cake indeed!

Galaxy Chocolate Mousse Cake:
Galaxy Chocolate Mousse Cake

A delicious new cake from Mars, this one features a biscuit base and layers of chocolate mousse, topped with Galaxy chocolate buttons. Yummo! Spotted at Tesco.

Mars Mud Pie:
Mars Mud Pie

This has been out for a while but I'm late in posting about it - the Mars Mud Pie! Described as a "delicious chocolate and caramel mousse dessert" this looks very tasty indeed!

Swizzels Loadsa Sweets Party Cake:
Swizzels Loadsa Sweets Party Cake

This caught my eye purely due to all the sweets on top - what a sugar rush! Not only does it have gummy fried eggs, but Squashies sweets and Rainbow Drops. Spotted in Tesco.

Tesco Rainbow Cake:
Tesco Rainbow Cake

Rainbows and unicorns are inflitrating everything these days...and if you love this kind of thing Tesco have made a cake just for you: this multicoloured rainbow cake complete with rainbow decoration on top! So sparkly and magical! Tesco also do a Unicorn Cake if that's more your kind of thing.

Asda Unicorn Cake:
Asda Unicorn Cake

Not to be outdone by Tesco, Asda are doing their own Unicorn Cake that looks a lot nicer (I did have a photo of the Tesco version but seem to have lost it - it's on my Instagram page somewhere). Apparently it serves 18...yeah right, maybe 18 mice!

Shopkins Rainbow Bite Celebration Cake:
Shopkins Rainbow Bite Celebration Cake

Staying with the #rainbowsandunicorns theme (it seems we live in hashtags these days! #thestruggleisreal) there's this cute Shopkins Rainbow Bite Celebration Cake, available at Tesco.

Pusheen The Cat Super Fancy Celebration Cake:

I don't know who Pusheen the Cat is but he/she has a cake made in their image. One for the kiddies no doubt. Available at Tesco.

Cadbury aren't content with all the other new products they've released recently, oh no, they're also doing these Melt In The Middle Puddings, which I'm sure have been around before in some other form. There's also a Cadbury Caramel variety. Spotted in Tesco Frozen aisle.

Jammie Dodgers Lemon Twist Limited Edition:
Jammie Dodgers Lemon Twist Limited Edition

I'm not sure what's new about this limited edition - Jammie Dodgers have done a lemon variety before as Lively Lemon, so I'm guessing it's a rehash. If anyone knows do leave a comment! Spotted in Tesco.

Hill Biscuits Chocolate Orange Creams Limited Edition:

Staying with Tesco, they have quite a delicious looking range of Easter products at the moment...and this Easter Traybake complete with Gummy Fried Eggs and Mini Eggs looks pretty nifty indeed. Find it in the bakery aisle.

Tesco Easter Hot Chocolate Fudge Cake:

Tesco are also doing this Easter Hot Chocolate Fudge Cake - the hot part comes in when you heat it in the microwave to turn the topping into a melted gooey sauce. Yum, what a great idea!

I'm pretty sure this gateau isn't all that new, it looks like something Tesco have done before. If anyone knows please leave a comment!

Ben & Jerry’s Birthday Cake & Topped Pretzel Palooza (Spotted In Shops)

ben and jerrys birthday cake

Another quick edition of Spotted In Shops today, this time for something always worthy of shouting about: New Ben & Jerry's flavours! It seems they've been busy again and released two new flavours onto the U.K market: Birthday Cake, containing Vanilla Cake Batter Ice Cream with Pink Frosting, Strawberry Swirls and Cake Pieces. It comes in lovely packaging that enables you to gift the tub to someone on their birthday - such a nice touch! I would actually do this if it wouldn't melt in the post! Currently available at Sainsbury's for £4.

ben and jerrys topped pretzel palooza

As if that wasn't exciting enough they've only gone and bloomin' launched another variety, this time in their "Topped" range called Pretzel Palooza. This one contains Vanilla malt ice cream with a chocolatey hazelnut swirl (11%), chocolatey covered pretzel chunks (7%), chocolatey chunks (2%) and chocolatey topping (9%), and it's currently £3 in Sainsbury's. What are you waiting for? Get yourself down there pronto!

cadbury crunchie ice cream tub

Maybe a bit less exciting, but I had to include this since we are talking Ice Cream - Cadbury Crunchie Ice Cream tubs are now a thing!

Have you tried any of these new Ice Creams? Would you recommend them? Let me know in the comments!

Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo Sandwich, Oreo Bites, M&M's Crispy Spread etc (Spotted In Shops)

cadbury oreo bites

A handful of new products from Mondelez (always Mondelez!) and Mars have appeared in shops this week...so I thought I would honor the occasion with a quick Spotted In Shops post. Enjoy!

First up, these Oreo Bites that are currently available in Asda. Bite size chocolates filled with Cream and Oreo pieces, these are similar to Dairy Milk Oreo bars although aren't labelled as Dairy Milk - presumably so Mondelez can use their cheaper milk chocolate on them.

Also new is this Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo Sandwich bar:
cadbury dairy milk oreo sandwich

It contains a layer of milk chocolate in the middle, with cream filling on each segment and an Oreo cookie piece above. It's similar to the Dairy Milk with Ritz and LU bars they did a few years back. Currently it seems to be an Asda exclusive although I'm sure will be available in other shops shortly.

Also new at Asda is this M&M's Crispy Spread:
m&ms crispy spread

Basically chocolate spread with crispy M&M's thrown in. Not particularly imaginative but I'm sure it's very nice!

Last but not least, McVitie's Hobnobs Nibbles Hazelnut!
McVitie's Hobnobs Nibbles Hazelnut

These are also currently only available at Asda, alongside the Orange Milk Chocolate Nibbles launched last year.

If you have tried any of these treats, do let me know in the comments, and as always keep an eye on my Instagram feed for the latest new products!

Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons & Freddo Faces Chocolate Tubes

Cadbury dairy milk Freddo faces buttons

I do often bemoan the quality of Cadbury's chocolate, and with good reason - the taste and texture has gone way downhill in recent years. However I am still human and love most things sweet so when offered to try the Cadbury Christmas range I didn't say no. Their 2017 products include a few newbies in their stocking fillers, including Cadbury Dairy Milk Freddo Faces. I was sent those along with Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons so thought I'd do a head to head comparison of the two!

Starting with the Freddo Faces these aren't all in one tube but rather in little packets inside the tubes, which is disappointing. It doesn't feel special but rather that they've just stuffed some regular products into a tube and given it a festive label. Still it makes them handy to give out as snacks and keeps them fresher. Well, in theory it does if you don't intend on eating them all at once!

They tasted nice, sweet and sugary, pretty much what you'd expect from Cadbury Freddo. No doubt they're perfect stocking fillers for kiddies especially with the fun Freddo shapes. Yes, the quality of the Dairy Milk isn't what it used to be, but they're still fun as far as cheap chocolates go - I can't knock that. And anything Freddo related always has a special nostalgic feel to it. 8 out of 10.

The Dairy Milk buttons are the classics we all know and love, they taste milkier and greasier than they used to but still have that comforting familiar taste underneath all the sugar. Again these come in little packets, somewhat cheapening the point of them being in a festive tube.

They tasted good, although I think giant buttons would have been better because these are a bit small and annoying to eat. But then I have a big mouth and they're not aimed at me so...yeah, I'm sure kids will love them! They're not quite as fun as the Freddo Faces, even though they are a classic. 7.5 out of 10.

Overall, what can I say but basically these are both fun and cheap chocolates that do what they say on the tin...er tube...er...packet. The Freddo Faces are a clear choice for the kiddies and the Dairy Milk Buttons would make a good stocking filler for pretty much anyone.
